Accessibility

What we do today

• Every visual has words. Each poster has descriptive alt text, and every lesson includes the full explanation in plain, readable text — so nothing depends on seeing the image alone.
• Keyboard friendly. You can move through the pages, links, and buttons with the keyboard — a mouse is not required — and the focused item is visible.
• Clear structure. Pages use proper headings and landmarks, so screen readers can navigate them in order.
• Readable contrast. Text and buttons are chosen for strong contrast against their backgrounds.
• Read aloud. Every lesson has a "🔊 Robot reads it to you" button that reads the lesson out loud using your browser — great for early readers, multilingual classrooms, and anyone who learns better by ear. Nothing is sent anywhere; it works right on your device.
• Calm by default. If your device is set to reduce motion, the gentle animations turn off automatically. There is no autoplaying audio or video anywhere on the site.
• Print-friendly. Posters, lessons, units, and the Passport are designed to print cleanly for offline and low-bandwidth use.
• Resizable. The layout adjusts when you zoom in or make text larger.

What we're still improving

• Continuing to strengthen alt text and labels on the most visual games and labs.
• Extending read-aloud and captions to more interactive activities.
