For Parents & Teachers

Every poster is a conversation starter about how technology works and how to stay safe.

Robot Explains turns tricky tech ideas into friendly visual lessons, simple enough for a curious beginner and accurate enough to build on. That makes them easy to talk through together.

Every explainer answers the same five questions: what is it, how does it work, what can go wrong, how do we stay safe, and what should I remember. Each lesson page also has a For grown-ups section with a deeper note and trusted links.

Discussion starters

Because every lesson follows the same five questions, these prompts work for any topic:

Printables

Every lesson has a Download the poster button for the full-size image, and a Print this lesson button that prints a clean handout, just the poster, the explanation, the words to know, and the key points, with no menus or clutter.

Want a guided sequence instead of single lessons? The Learning Paths walk a class or family through a topic from start to finish. And Robot's Rules for Staying Safe is a printable one-page safety poster.

Ready-to-use resources

5-minute discussion plan

  1. Show the poster (project it or print it).
  2. Ask: “In your own words, what is it?”
  3. Ask: “What could go wrong, and how do we stay safe?”
  4. Finish: everyone names one thing they will remember.

15-minute classroom mini-lesson

  1. Warm-up (2 min): ask what students already know about the topic.
  2. Show (3 min): display the poster and read the explanation together.
  3. Words to know (3 min): review the vocabulary list from the lesson.
  4. What can go wrong (4 min): discuss the risks and the “how we stay safe” steps.
  5. Exit ticket (3 min): each student writes one sentence: “The most important thing is…”

  • How I stay safe: ____________________
  • Two new words I learned: ____________________
  • One thing I will remember: ____________________

Vocabulary review sheet

Every lesson has a Words to know list with four kid-friendly definitions. For a quick review: cover the definitions and have students explain each term, or cover the terms and have them name the word from the definition. Mix terms from a whole learning path for an end-of-unit review.

A safety note for grown-ups

These lessons are awareness-focused, not how-to, they explain what risks are and how to stay safe, without teaching anyone to cause harm. They're a starting point for conversation and supervision, not a replacement for it, and they are general educational content, not legal, medical, or professional security advice. Always pair them with a trusted adult's guidance and your school or family's own rules.
