Seeing Isn't Believing

AI can fake photos, voices, and video — so before you believe something, ask three questions: Who made this? Why? Where else can I check?

For a long time, "I saw it with my own eyes" meant something was true. But now AI can fake photos, voices, and whole videos — so seeing something is no longer proof that it's real. The good news? You don't need to be scared or believe nothing. You just need three questions.

Robot's 3 Media Questions. Before you believe — or share — a surprising photo, video, or post, ask:

  1. Who made this? A trusted news source, or an account you've never heard of?
  2. Why? To inform you… or to make you angry, scared, or excited enough to share without thinking?
  3. Where else can I check? Do other trusted places show the same thing?

If you can't answer these, that's your signal to slow down. "I'm not sure yet" is a perfectly smart thing to say.

The feeling clue. Fakes often work by hitting your feelings hard and fast — a jolt of anger, fear, or "wow!" That rush is designed to make you share before you think. So here's the rule: the more something makes you feel, the more it's worth checking.

Green, yellow, red.

  • 🟢 Green: calm, ordinary posts from people and places you trust.
  • 🟡 Yellow: a surprising claim you can't find anywhere else — pause and check.
  • 🔴 Red: something shocking pushing you to share or panic right now — stop, and check with a grown-up.

Remember: seeing isn't believing anymore — checking is. Who made it? Why? Where else can I check? Be curious, not careless!

What to remember

  • A photo or video is no longer proof by itself.
  • Ask: Who made this? Why? Where else can I check?
  • The more it makes you feel, the more you check.
  • It's okay to say 'I'm not sure yet.'

Explain it back

You understand something best when you can teach it. Finish these out loud — to a friend, a grown-up, a little brother or sister, or even the mirror:

  • "Seeing isn't believing" means…
  • The three questions I ask are…
  • When something makes me feel angry or scared fast, I should…
